Project 1

In this project, my task compromised of designing a bathroom and a bedroom for a Guest Suite in Barnes:

The guest bedroom and en suite bathroom, will have a coherent colour scheme: This will bring a cohesiveness and continuity between the two spaces. The guest suite will be a quintessential, timeless and enticing environment that will encourage guests of any age to be sure to want to visit again. The space will be a homely yet modernised and refreshing space. The space will reflect as requested by Fiona and Adam: ‘English traditional style with a contemporary twist’. In the designed bedroom, there will be an exploration of decorative pattern and textured materials which will give a warm feel to the room. There will be a featured wall of a distinctive patterned wallpaper to bring a focus point to the room. The room will be designed to complement and be in keeping with the property itself. This will include elements such as cornicing below the ceiling and traditional aesthetic looking bathroom features of taps, baths, basin and the shower. There will be a contrast between beautifully rich and luxurious chosen fabrics to subtlety and calm in the wood work and chosen furniture. Contrasts between a moody dark blue/ grey and lighter shade of grey will help give a welcoming environment to any guest whether male or female, young or old. Accents of a dark, moody warm red will help give a focus point to the space. Artwork will be chosen in accordance with the family’s interests in film, television, live music and sport. This will help give individuality and a connection to the rest of the home. There will be a seamless connection between a traditional English style with a modern twist from Los Angeles. Fabrics and the design itself, will be inspired by designers such as Rose Uniacke, Nina Campbell, Soho House and Mulberry Home.

The environment will incorporate elements of contemporary monochromatic colours in a range of hues. This will be in contrast to moody warm tones and cool tranquil dark blues.
